A Family-Owned Business Since 1962

Madison's oldest ambulance service, Ryan Brothers Ambulance, was founded in 1962 by brothers Pat
(Left) and Paul Ryan (Right).  At the time, there was no 911 system and the fire department did not operate ambulances.  Through the years, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), as well as Ryan Brothers Ambulance, has changed a great deal.

Unfortunately, Paul Ryan passed away in 1994 and was unable to see the significant growth Ryan Brothers Ambulance has experienced over the years.  While Pat Ryan still maintains a significant presence in the office, Pat's sons, Erin and Patrick, began the succession process and bought the company in 2004.

Ryan Brothers operates at all levels of EMS, including Paramedic & Critical Care.  We have 3 stations in Madison, and with a fleet of 18 ambulances, provide interfacility transfers to a 100 mile radius of Madison.  This includes trips between hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.  Since 2002, we have operated a station in Fort Atkinson.  There, we provide 911 services to the City and surrounding towns, as well as interfacility transports to the hospital and throughout Jefferson County.  In July 2008, we opened our 5th station in Deerfield.  This location allows for easy access in both directions to improve response times to both Dane and Jefferson counties.  In June of 2010, we opened our 6th station in Sun Prairie.

In January 2011, we began providing 911 services to the Village of Maple Bluff.  In September 2011, we opened our 7th south central Wisconsin location in Janesville. There, we provide transports throughout Rock County and are the exclusive ambulance provider to the new St. Mary's Hospital.

In July 2014, we broke ground on a new Administration/Training building and was completed in January 2015.

Every day, all of our 95 employees strive to uphold the principals, as expressed in our Mission Statement, with which Paul & Pat Ryan founded the company:

Since 1962, Ryan Brothers Ambulance strives to provide the highest quality pre-hospital patient care with expert competence, aptitude, expertise, compassion and professionalism.  This is achieved by placing our patients’ and customer’s needs first, and treating every patient as if they were a member of our own family.
